Born and raised in Shreveport, Dr. Hefner is thankful to be able to serve the community in which he was raised. A graduate of Northwood High School, Dr. Hefner earned his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. From there he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in molecular and cellular biology as well as a minor in chemistry.
Afterwards he attended LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport where he attained his medical degree. Dr. Hefner completed his residency in neurosurgery at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. He participated in numerous basic science and clinical research projects, earning special recognition for some. Dr. Hefner has published book chapters, numerous articles in peer reviewed journals, and has presented at several state and national conferences. He served as chief resident from 2020-2021. Dr. Hefner has also spent significant time in an enfolded fellowship with Dr. Anthony Sin focusing on adult and pediatric complex spine surgery.
Dr. Hefner is very excited to join WK in serving the community he loves to call home. He has interest in adult neurosurgery including the surgical treatment of a variety of brain and spinal disorders. He has a particular interest in minimally invasive treatment options.
He is happily married to his high school sweetheart Amy, and is the proud father of four beautiful daughters, Madison, Kensley, Nicole, and Makayla. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Hefner enjoys being involved in his church where he serves as a deacon, international travel, reading, amateur astronomy, and anything car related.
